Hi everyone,
Andy has kindly given me permission to post on behalf of The National Lottery Good Causes, to tell you about the fantastic success of two Yorkshire-based synchronised divers, backed by Lottery funding.
Identical twins Helen and Carol Galashan are students at Leeds Metropolitan University, and are Britain's leading synchronised diving hopefuls for the 2012 Olympics. The twins' training programme and the Aquatics Centre at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds, where the girls train, are both backed by the Lottery. This means the girls have the best possible training facilities, and the best chance to realise their Olympic dream!
To celebrate the role that Lottery funding has played in their success, the twins have taken part in a special performance at the Centre, diving into a pool filled with giant Lottery balls. Check out
www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/rollingout/gallery to see them in action!
A total of 436 Olympic and Paralympic medals have been won by athletes funded by the Lottery, with Beijing 2008 being Team GB's best medal haul for 100 years.
If you have any questions or comments about Lottery Good Causes, feel free to ask me!
