Olympic Britain 2012 - Disclaimer

More information and websites...

This is not an Official London 2012 website. Official information can be found at www.london2012.com.

The Olympics and Paralympics are coming to London on 2012 and, like it or not, every Briton is involved to a greater or lesser extent. The venues are scattered around Britain, sports and future sports stars are gearing up for a wave of enthusiasm - and the bill is mushrooming - from an initial £2.5 Billion to a current £12Billion. This is being funded, not only by sponsorship and tickets but also by National Lottery money, diverted from, arguably, more appropriate recipients. It is also fair to say, that some expenses and costs will be absorbed within Government and Council budgets elsewhere and never be attributable to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Whilst acknowledging the need to protect income from the Brands, therefore, it is only fair to also allow the tax-paying Public whose money is being spent on the Games to have a say, to discuss the Olympic Games and, like the Subcontractors and staff to benefit financially from this once in a lifetime opportunity. This website is a place to discuss the Olympics and for us all to benefit from sharing information. it is free to use, but at the same time it is a commercial website with running costs, which it intends to recoup via advertising.

Britain, unlike Beijing, is a Democracy with the Right to Free Speech and expression. This website's aim is to disseminate and share information about the Olympics, the Paralympics and other events not within the LOCOG remit that will be happening around the UK in the run-up to, during and after the London 2012 Olympics.

Although the International Olympic Committee and the London 2012 Organising Committee have protected certain logos and words as trademarks, there should be no issue in the Marks being used appropriately (as they already are) on a daily basis by media such as Newspapers, TV and Radio as well as Internet Websites in such a way as to promote the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Britain and London in 2012.

For the Record, in the Official London 2012 website Terms of Use, the proprietary materials of LOCOG, the Olympic Delivery Authority (“ODA”) and/or their licensors are acknowledged by this website. According to the Official London 2012 website information on using the brand, "The words protected by OSPA can, however, be used in editorial news pieces without our authorisation and journalists are, in certain circumstances, able to use our emblem etc to illustrate an editorial piece about the Games.". The use of the Marks on these pages should, as far as reasonably possible, conform to these guidelines. Should any inappropriate use be found, then the owner of the Mark should contact us in the first instance to discuss it further.

In summary, the Games are happening, whether we want them to or not. Let us make them a success, show Britain in a good light and let us all with legitimate business interests benefit from the publicity and the massive Tourism inflow expected before during and after the London 2012 games.
