History

Brighton predates the Domesday book, but really took off in the 18th Century when health resorts became the rage.In 1841, the railway brought day trippers from London. In the 1960s it was the Mods and Rockers descending. Now it is a highly fashionable resort with a very Cosmopolitan clientele.

Attractions

Brighton is a thriving seaside resort. Despite its pebbly beach, it attracts around 8 million tourists each year. The Royal Pavilion, built for the Prince Regent, the Laines shopping area and, of course the beaches and piers make for a great destination for all.

Brighton Festival, in May is Britain's largest Arts festival. In August it holds its Gay Pride carnival - Brighton being dubbed the gay capital of Britain.

Being a seaside resort, it has the beaches, the piers and the inevitable Sea Life Centre.
